Hoarder of hobbies, making a whole life out of them.
Sewing, gardening, cooking, building, keeping animals, making things by hand – because one thing was never going to be enough, and because my whole life can’t stay in one lane. A lot of it is old, practical knowledge, the skills our grandmothers had, and in this season of my life I’m leaning into that harder than I used to.
Hey, I’m Taimi
This place started as a hobby room that got out of hand and turned into a way of living. Now there’s a flock to let out at dawn, a couple of dogs named Gypsy and Kairo who think our morning walk is the whole point of the day, something is always under the needle and there is something else on the cutting table, soap curing on the rack, and a kitchen that runs on whatever the season actually gave me, not what I planned for. The stack of projects I mean to finish never actually gets shorter.
I don’t keep this life on a schedule so much as a wheel. Something is always turning over, being put up, or coming back around, and most of what I write here is just paying attention to that. Not a performance of a simple life. Just a life, written down as it happens.
If you’re already doing some version of this, or wish you were, you’ll probably feel at home here.

Eight turning points mark how the year actually moves here. Right now we are deep in the harvest, past the first harvest festival of Lughnasadh, and just a few weeks away from the Autumn Equinox.

For September my attention is turning towards apples and pumpkins, clearing the beds for fall planting, and putting up the last of summer’s harvest. A new quilt is about to start, a fresh batch of soap needs to be poured, and a couple other projects are swirling around in my head.
